The only song on In And Of Itself’s Facebook page is Occam’s Razor, but that is enough to tell that this is going to be a band with more than a small contribution to make to the Baltimore music scene.
The song begins with a punchy, ready guitar soon joined by driving, creative drums and bass. Catchy melodies and crunchy instrumentals are these boys’ specialties. Describing themselves as Rock/Experimental/Ambient, Jason Alfrod, Josh Shank, and Will Wright believe they have a new sound to contribute to the Baltimore metro area.
I’ll have to say, this song sounds very well recorded. It’s hard to pick a guitar like that and not end up sonically too similar to Explosions In The Sky, but these guys pull it off. The vocals have a sort of doubling effect that really strengthens the song, and the rhythm guitar is nothing less than crunchy.
The song begins, “I can’t wait for the future” and it’s obvious that the future for these guys is going to be bright as long as they keep pumping out songs like this.
If you go to their Bandcamp, you’ll discover two more gems, Convert To Consciousness and Create Another Man. The former begins with a tasty drum beat, smoothens out to another solid verse and then drops into a thick chorus. The latter shows off more of that crunchy rhythm guitar and thick arrangement. That snare still cuts through exactly as much as it should.
How much does music like this cost, you ask? Why, it’s a free download! Get it before it’s too late!
