Yeveto is a name which demands a creative backing. This band does not let you down. The first track on their BandCamp is called “Remote Unelectrified Villages” and sounds exactly like it should be by a band called Yeveto.

 “Elephant Beaut” begins with a slightly delayed electric organ and suddenly adds drums and strings after about 15 seconds. The song continues to build with beautiful music upon beautiful music until close to the very end.

The wonderfully refreshing thing about Yeveto is that they don’t lose your interest like most instrumental bands. Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot of people love instrumental post-rock, but a much larger number of people, myself included, just can’t stand to listen to it for more than a song or two. Yeveto isn’t like that. Their keyboard sounds are anything from typical, and they don’t resort to long strings of soaring guitars and enormous drums.

The title of each song is easy to picture while listening to the instruments. I can imagine men romping around as animals when I listen to “The Hyena And Other Men” and then think about how ridiculous some people are that other people would call them Hyenas.

I promise if you like music, this will not bore you. It changes, develops, or repeats at all the right places.
