Booze Riot is a great name for a punk band, and so are all the names of this band’s songs: Booze Riot Strikes Back, Whoa, Disgusted, The Waffle Haus Blues, I Hate Women, and Shame On You.
Booze Riot Strike Back is about a minute and a half long, and mostly consists of declarations that Booze Riot will very emphatically strike back very soon. The recoding on their Bandcamp also includes an introduction and short description of everyone in the band.
Whoa begins with power chords, thick bass, and drum fills. It then progresses to “Oi’s” and “Whoa’s”. This is punk rock. This is what punk rock sounds like.
Disgusted is disgustingly crunchy, as it should be. Pulsing bass over mid tempo guitar lead suddenly burst into a quick chant and exclamation of disgust.
The Waffle Haus Blues is a bit different than the other songs. It’s and interesting shift musically, beginning with a nice bass and drum shuffle.
I Hate Women. What a name for a song. This is what people mean when they say “liquid bass” at the beginning.
Shame On You finishes out the list of Booze Riot songs on Bandcamp with a bang. This is an excellent set of songs that probably flowed together really well live. I couldn’t help but feel a little attacked by the chanting “Shame on you!” of this song’s chorus. That’s probably what they were going for, and they pulled it off well.
All of these songs can be yours for free if you visit Booze Riot’s Bandcamp.
