Strum The Fox is an instrumental band composed of an electric violin, an electric guitar, and a ridiculously large drum set. I began to count the number of cymbals this guy has and quickly became confused. They’ve had tons of extremely great press reviews though, so they’re obviously doing something right.

If you sort of like swing, jazz, 80s metal, punk, jungle drums, classical music, and pop rock but have a terrible time focusing and listening to one genre for more than ten seconds, you should totally check out Strum The Fox. In one video they went from a tribal drum groove to quoting an 80s pop standard and back into the standard jazz metal groove all within about four measures.

For a band whose signature is clearly genre synthesis and mass assemblage, they have surprisingly simple song titles. Maybe that makes sense though. I’ve always thought it was sort of ironic that Instrumental bands often have the most creative song titles. This is an instrumental band that really never delves into the world of word crafting.

My favorite thing about Strum The Fox is easily the guitarist’s hat. He’s a fox!
