We’ve all heard about how the U2 360 Tour has now become the most popular and best-selling concert tour in history, replacing the previous record held by the Rolling Stones. It’s also known as having the world’s largest stage, as well as being the longest tour in history. If you’re in the Baltimore area and you’d like to be a part of this widely successful tour, U2 will be in town on June 22, playing at the M&T Bank Stadium at 7:00 PM.
Baltimore has several other incredible concerts lined up for the summer months as well. Adorable Katy Perry, for example, will be singing at the Merriweather Post Pavilion on June 15. Perry fans know her for chart topping songs such as “Teenage Dream,” “Hot N Cold,” and most recently, “Firework,” known for its video about self-love and acceptance.
Love her or hate her, Britney Spears will also be in the Baltimore area this summer. Oops, she’ll do it again on July 31, when she will perform at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.
Cirque du Soleil will be bringing the Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour to the Verizon Center for several summer shows this year. They will be performing on July 13, 14, and 15, so fans should be sure to get a chance to see the show if they purchase tickets now—and what could be more fun than human acrobats and performers completing awe-inspiring acts to the soundtrack of the king of pop?
Rhianna’s famous Loud Tour will also be in Baltimore this summer. She will be at the 1st Mariner Arena on June 4.
If The Cars were just what you needed, you can see them perform in Washington, DC as well. They will be at the 9:30 Club on May 23 at 7:00 PM. Seeing The Cars perform would be a special treat for me, as my father, an avid concert goer in his youth, has some great stories about the concerts he used to attend—including sneaking up to the front row of a Cars concert only to face two girls in metallic makeup who spoke in “beeps,” as if they were aliens, all night. If you run into them at the Cars concert in DC, drop us a line and let us know how they’re doing.
On July 9, the rocking bands Def Leppard and Heart will be at the Jiffy Lube Live at 7:30 PM. This is sure to be one of the most amazing concerts of the year and it’s definitely not to be missed.
My fellow Gleeks, you can catch Glee on tour in Washington, DC on June 9 at the Verizon Center. They’ll be performing our favorites from the show and wowing us all with their vocal talents and dance moves—with the exception of Finn, of course, who admits that he cannot dance. If you get to meet the cast at all, say hello to my favorite character, Kurt, for me.
And if you’d like to hear Peter Frampton make his guitar talk, you can catch him on July 17 at the Pier Six Concert Pavilion.
